For as long as we have been at the club, it has become very noticeable that local’s and holidaymakers feel they cannot come in and drink or eat with us. No matter what we’ve tried, we’ve been unable to get the message across that ‘everyone is welcome’.
Through hosts of meetings with the Golf Union of Wales and Pembrokeshire Business initiative we have decided to rename the club ‘Newport Sands’. We believe this gives the general public a far better impression of what and who we are. Along with changing the name of the club we have also re-branded the restaurant, calling it ‘Seaglass Restaurant’ – there will be a separate facebook page for both; professionally run with lots to read on both with competitions sprucing things up to keep you all intrigued – become our friends on Facebook if you haven’t already.
So why change you might ask? We are proud of what we have achieved at the club over the past 17 years with the addition of the 4 star accommodation and further 9 holes. And we’re doing this to enable us to continue to grow and improve the club. The golf membership is our main focus and our core business. But for the club to be able to invest and to improve the experience of our members inside the restaurant & bar, the clubhouse facilities and on the course itself we need a thriving business.
With our new signs on the road, new website just launched and new Facebook pages we will hopefully see a big improvement with locals and visitors feeling more welcome. In essence nothing will change. The members will always be our number one priority, it’s just we feel that people do not know they can benefit by eating or drinking whilst looking out on the best views in Britain.
So tell your friends, family and colleagues all about the Newport Sands Links Golf Club you ‘re a member of and hopefully they will come along and try or restaurant, golf course or even stay in our guest rooms. Thank you, as always, for your continued and valued support.
Best wishes from Chris, Julian and the Newport Sands Links Golf Course Team.
